1999 - 2003 Football Success

In 1999 the Barryroe minor team narrowly missed out on county success as they went down to a Clyda Rovers team over two dramatic games, both of which went to extra time. In 2000 the minor footballers took the final step and in doing so became the first team in the club's history to win a county title, and so began a golden age with the big ball in the club culminating in a series of titles. The following year, 2001 saw the club secure the West Cork U21 'B' title by defeating a fancied Kilmacabea in Rosscarbery. This was Barryroe's first title in twelve years at this grade. Backboned by successful underage teams, Barryroe Junior 'B' footballers in 2002 became the first adult team in the club's history to secure county honours defeating Belgooly in the final. It was in West Cork were the greatest challenges were overcome and especially in the final as they defeated St.Mary's, again in Barryroe's happy hunting ground, Rosscarbery. In 2003 Barryroe, the new kids on the block went all the way the West Cork Junior 'A' final but were defeated by a star studded Carbery Rangers on the day, who subsequently went on secure county titles all the way to senior.
