Development 2007
In 2007 Barryroe GAA club undertook a massive draw to raise funds for the development of the GAA grounds. A hugely successful undertaking, the club ended up raising in excess of 200,000 euro with members travelling the full length of the county to sell tickets. With the funds, the following developments were made to the club grounds;
- Tract of land purchased and main pitch widened.
- Second pitch extended and playing surface improved.
- Fencing of the first and seconds pitches replaced.
- Top of the range flood-lighting installed on main pitch (government grant also received).
- Steel-framed Gymnasium erected and top of the range equipment installed.
- Tennis court converted into a hurling ball alley, astro-turf laid down on the surface and flood-lighting installed.
- Entrance gates widened and new gates erected.
- Parking areas levelled and driveway improved.
- Barryroe Show facilities improved.
- Dressing rooms and shower areas upgraded.
- Outdoor training equipment purchased.
Special mention to Fleming Construction for this re-development work. The quality of work at the planning, design and implementation phases was of the highest level. Nearly every individual on the worksite were locals and the end-result showed the pride they have for their GAA club.
