Just in Time Award for Michael and Amy Walsh

Water Safety Ireland have today awarded “Just in Time” rescue awards to Michael and Amy Walsh from Butlerstown who alerted the Rescue Authorities on the evening of 25th Feb 2021, when they noticed a garment near the slipway at Dunworley Beach in West Cork, while out walking from their nearby residence. Michael’s early call for help led to the rescue of a person that was trapped in a sinkhole / cave off the beach as the full tide approached. Involved in the callout were the Old Head / Seven Heads Coast Guard Unit including local rescue diver Eamonn Barry, the Coast Guard Rescue 115 Helicopter and the Courtmacsherry Lifeboat. Proud we all are to be associated with this award to Michael, who is a prominent member of the local Barryroe GAA hurling and football teams and to his mother Amy.
