Friday night last saw Ibane Gaels gather to acknowledge and congratulate the players, management team and parents on the outstanding success achieved by the Ibane minor team of 2024. The lads had an outstanding year on the playing field, winning the League, West Region and County Championships in hurling and the Challenge Cup in football. County titles do not come easy, so the silverware on display last night was just reward for the massive effort put in by the players and management all year - overall 29 games were played by this team throughout the 2024 season. Danny Murphy, Peter Fleming, Liam Murphy & Barry Harte were loud in their praise for the players, parents and coaches. Attendees were given a brief history of the Ibane amalgamation and without the determination of dedicated people from both clubs throughout the years, Ibane would not have achieved the success it has. Guest of honour on the night and Ibane stalwart, Liam Murphy presented the five medals to the players. Last year’s minor hurling and football captains, Dan Moloney and Charlie Twomey, were on hand to present a token of appreciation to the management team on behalf of the players. Congratulations was also extended to Luke Murphy, who was a dual Cork minor in 2024, on his incredible achievements last year. Sincere thanks to Peter Fleming who acted as MC and saw to it that everything ran smoothly and to Conor & Tracie of Pad Joes Bar for hosting the night. Finallly, a special word of thanks to the club officers for organising a great evening. Years like this are few and far between, and it is important that they are remembered and celebrated. Here’s to continued success for Ibane teams in 2025!!
