Barryroe suffered defeat in their opening football championship fixture against a well organised and determined Carbery Rangers on Sunday evening last in Ardfield. After a poor first half performance, the defending champions rallied in the second period. A quickfire 1-01 from full forward Sean Holland offered a glimmer of hope in the closing stages, but Carbery Rangers held on for the deserved win. Final score Barryroe 1-09 Carbery Rangers 0-13.
